ABOUT LASYA RANJANI
Lasya Ranjani is a Bharatanatyam dance school teaching young and aspirant students, the art of dancing, for the past decade. Since its inception in the summer of 2010, Anitha Addagadde, the founder of Lasya Ranjani, has tirelessly worked towards educating her students in the different nuances of dancing. Dance is many times understood as the movement of the body to rhythm or music alone. From her personal experience, Anitha knows that dancing helps in learning about the heritage, tradition, music, the beats, and synchronization. It helps in developing an understanding of the mind and the body. The coordination of these results in a joyful expression in the form of dance.
The students of Lasya Ranjani are encouraged to perform on various stages and sometimes enroll in dance competitions. Performing on stage results in increasing the confidence and self-worth. This helps in the students accomplishing their own life goals. In these past years, many students from Lasya Ranjani have won accolades at many events and competitions.
Apart from learning the practical aspect of dancing, Anitha emphasizes on learning the theoretical aspects too, like the shlokas of hand gestures (hastha bheda), feet positions (pada bheda), eye movements (drishti bheda) and many more. In addition, the students are introduced to the talas and ragas, the name and brief introduction about the composer and the era the composition was made. The dance pieces are taught with the lyrics and meaning, so that the students have a good understanding to bring out the right emotions.
Furthermore, the students of Lasya Ranjani are encouraged to take up dance examinations conducted by Akhila Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune. The exams are conducted in Bay Area by examiners affiliated to ABGMV.
